Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Updated May 4, 2020

In recent weeks we have all been witness to the spread of COVID-19. As the outbreak accelerates, it is clear the scale of impact is still unknown. What has become clear is that it is everyone’s responsibility to help stop the spread of this virus and we are committed to doing our part to protect our community, associates and customers. Part of that responsibility is to listen to the experts.

In accordance with Washington state orders, Sea-Bird Scientific has temporarily suspended operations at our Bellevue, Washington facility through May 31, 2020. We plan to reopen on June 1, 2020 but will continue to reevaluate the situation in line with the guidelines provided by local health officials. Our site in Philomath, Oregon will remain open at this time in line with local recommendations and with an increased emphasis on staggered start times, social distancing and cleaning.

So how will this impact you? During this time, we are still here and working for you. Associates who are able to work from home will continue to do so, including many customer-facing functions. We anticipate that many existing orders may be delayed, and we will be better equipped to provide updated timelines and ship dates when we resume normal operations. We ask that you refrain from submitting service return requests (RMAs) to our Bellevue facility at this time as we will not be able to receive them. If you have specific questions where receiving an answer is critical before April 9th, you can contact us at +1 425-643-9866, or via email at support@seabird.com for service-related information, or sales@seabird.com for existing orders. We encourage you to restrict your calls and emails to truly urgent matters only - for example, to notify us of your next deployment date or your site closure. This will allow our team to focus on helping customers with critical needs in this time of reduced resources.

Thank you for your continued support of Sea-Bird Scientific, our associates and the scientific community during these challenging times.

Regards,
Barry Lyon
President, Sea-Bird Scientific
