Dredging in San Francisco Bay


Dredging removes sediments and debris from the bottom of lakes, rivers, harbors, and other water bodies, in shallow seas or freshwater areas with the purpose of deepening and widening navigable waterways. Dredging is a routine necessity because sedimentation will naturally refill the areas, causing navigation hazards and obstruction.
