On Wednesday, July 12th, the team at Sea-Bird Scientific took time out of their day to go to one of our local beaches and pick up trash. Early July is an especially critical time of year to do beach clean-ups, given the proximity to the 4th of July in the United States. That morning, 16 associates from all across Sea-Bird Scientific found themselves at Lake Sammamish State Park in Washington to make a tangible impact on our community.
Through this initiative, we partnered with the Surfrider Foundation Seattle Chapter, a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring the protection of our oceans, beaches, and waves for years to come.
This clean-up was ideated an facilitated by our internal Sustainability and community impact initiative: Sea-Pact. Through Sea-Pact, Sea-Bird Scientific hopes to continue to grow our impact on our community and our planet.
