Pat, one of Sea-Bird Scientific’s Senior Service Technicians, graciously donned a head camera to demonstrate how he replaces O-rings on a 9plus endcap. Though this procedure is for a 9plus CTD, the general principles apply across instruments:
- Remove old O-rings
- Clean the O-ring surfaces (everywhere the O-rings touch)
- Apply a thin layer of lubricant to the O-ring surface
- Apply a thin layer of lubricant to the O-ring
- Clean up excess lubricant
- Inspect and close the housing
